Dramatic video captures sliding car almost striking deputy

Caught on camera, a car driving on a snow-covered road loses control and starts fishtailing, sliding right for Jason Fabry.

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. — Deputies in Wisconsin are using a dramatic video to remind drivers to slow down on winter roads.

The video, posted to Facebook Tuesday at noon, shows Deputy Jason Fabry walking back up to the snow-covered road after helping a driver who slid into the ditch. A car headed his way loses control and starts fishtailing, sliding right for Fabry.

Fabry runs back into the ditch and avoids being hit.

The video was captured by the squad car's dash camera.

"This spinout could have been deadly for Deputy Fabry, or for an oncoming vehicle," the sheriff's office wrote in the post. "Thankfully, no one was struck or injured, but this video serves as a great example of people driving too fast for conditions and putting the life of a deputy at great risk. Unfortunately, this is an all too common event that just happened to be captured by a squad camera."

The post reminded drivers to do three things: slow down, give yourself extra time to make your trip, and drive safely, especially around emergency vehicles.
