Argosy University could close by end of week

The president sent an email Wednesday night, which says in part, the school is “At risk of closure this Friday.”

EAGAN, Minn. — More than 1,000 college students at Argosy University’s Eagan campus wait to find out if the college still exists tomorrow, creating mass confusion.

“We didn’t know anything,” said Aimmy Casale, an Argosy student.

“I don’t know,” said Sierra Rogers.

“It’s really frustrating,” said Ashley Achenbach.

Students say they only recently learned of Argosy’s financial trouble.

“It really is scary to know that your future is so unknown right now,” said Casale.

The president sent an email Wednesday night, which says in part, the school is “At risk of closure this Friday.” He wrote to stay open, the school needs a new owner. This has been a shock to students. They credit teachers for trying to help, but some give the university a failing grade in communication.

“Our professors’ bosses were not communicating well enough with them that they could then tell us. So, as a result there was just no communication whatsoever, and everything happened so fast,” said Rogers.

An Arogsy PR person emailed that they’re doing everything they can to save the campus, suggesting hope, but students feel other emotions.

“I feel really angry,” said Casale.

“Kind of heartbreaking, because we have been kept in the dark about this for a while,” said Rogers.

“A lot of us are frustrated and hurt and angry, because what do we do,” wondered Achenbach.

Students say they have paid Argosy tens of thousands of dollars. A PR person did not answer whether students would be reimbursed.
