Fugitive Lois Riess asks for directions in new video

The video was captured at a Kum & Go gas station in Northwood, Iowa on March 23, the same day authorities found the body of David Riess at his Blooming Prairie home.

NORTHWOOD, Iowa - The Minnesota BCA has released a new video of Lois Ann Riess, who's wanted in connection with the murder of her husband and the subsequent murder of a woman in Florida.

The video was captured at a Kum & Go gas station in Northwood, Iowa on March 23, the same day authorities found the body of David Riess at his Blooming Prairie home. The video shows Lois Riess approach the cashier, purchase a sandwich, and ask for directions south, out of the state.

Investigators believe that on March 23, Riess drove to a bank in Glenville, Minnesota, and cashed over $10,000 in stolen and forged checks from her husband and his business. She later spent most of the day gambling at Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood, Iowa, before stopping at the gas station.

This is the only video investigators have located to date with audio of Riess speaking. Investigators hope that her voice on this video, in addition to other videos and images released, will help someone recognize her and report her whereabouts so she can be taken into custody.

Riess was last seen driving Pamela Hutchinson’s vehicle, a white Acura TL, with Florida license plate Y37TAA. Authorities in Florida say Riess stole this vehicle after killing Pamela Hutchinson of Bradenton, Florida.

Riess is still at large and was most recently spotted in Louisiana and Texas. Riess should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone who sees her should call 911.

A $6,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
