'Mayo Clinic Guide to Raising a Healthy Child' answers key questions

New "How To" book helps parents navigate the younger years.

PLYMOUTH, Minnesota — Drawing from the collective wisdom of pediatric experts at Mayo Clinic, Mayo Clinic Guide to Raising a Healthy Child addresses key questions and concerns many parents have about the preschool and school-age years.

Parents learn what to expect between ages 3 and 11. The book focuses on everything including: feeding a picky eater, resolving sleep problems, addressing bullying, treating common injuries and illnesses, and coping with complex health care needs. Experts also explain what it takes to prepare a child for a rich and meaningful adult experience.

"Fortunately, there are plenty of opportunities to provide children with balanced, healthy life choices and to build a strong foundation that allows children to weather life's ups and downs," says Angela Mattke, M.D., a pediatrician in the Division of Community Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Mayo Clinic Children's Center in Rochester, Minnesota, and the book's editor. Mayo Clinic Guide to Raising A Healthy Child is available now at major bookstores everywhere and on Amazon. For more information, click here.
