ST PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Health reported 28 flu-related deaths in the week ending Feb. 29, bringing the number of deaths to 95 this flu season.
According to the most recent Weekly Influenza & Respiratory Illness Activity Report, the number of flu deaths this season — which includes two pediatric deaths — matches last season's total.
Officials say 3,254 hospitalizations have been reported this flu season, which is already higher than last season's total of 2,543.
School outbreaks spiked by 43 in the reported week to bring the total number of outbreaks this season to 848.
According to officials, the flu is still being classified as widespread.
