MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police are asking for help from the public after a man was shot and killed early Friday morning.
Shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, police received a ShotSpotter report of shots fired in the 3200 block of Lyndale Ave. N. A potential witness also called 911. When officers arrived, they found what appeared to be an adult man who had been shot. He was taken to North Memorial Medical Center, where he died.
Police interviewed several potential witnesses, but officers have not made any arrests.
MPD spokesperson John Elder asked for anyone with information to come forward. "There is a very strong track record of cases being solved when the community and the police department work together," Elder said. "We've solved cases even this week, based off that. So help us help you solve crimes in your community."
Two people were killed in two separate homicides in Minneapolis overnight Tuesday. Friday's homicide is the 22nd in the city this year. Elder says investigators are making good progress on Tuesday's crimes.
If you have information on a crime, you're asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Minnesota.
