MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police have identified a 19-year-old man who died in a crash Friday morning.
The single-vehicle crash happened just before 4 a.m. on the 3200 block of Girard Ave. N. When law enforcement arrived, officers said they found a Ford Taurus flipped over and a man lying on the ground. First responders attempted to save the man, but police said he died at the scene.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the man as Demarion Deshaun Wade of Minneapolis. He died of multiple blunt force injuries inflicted by the crash, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's release Monday.
A second victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
MPD said the preliminary investigation shows the Taurus was traveling west on Lowry Avenue when it struck a parked vehicle and flipped. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived, leaving behind the two injured passengers.
Police said there haven't been any arrests at this time.
