GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The Autism Society of Minnesota is gearing up for the organization’s largest fundraiser.
"Steps of Hope 2016" is Sunday, March 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Southdale Center in Edina.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. This year’s theme is “Be An Autism Hero.”
The event features a walk, a resource fair and lots of activities, products and services. Families, businesses and community groups are all encouraged to create walk teams and raise money to support individuals and families affected by autism.
Experts say with a diagnosis rate of 1 in 68, autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in Minnesota.
Proceeds will help fund group therapy, family support groups, social skills classes, training, workshops, conferences, summer camps, emergency preparedness, employment and much more.
