When the snow is high and the air is cold and the winter feels like it will never end, Julie Olson gathers up her friends and combats that cabin fever with a little trail therapy.

The six friends are out riding fat bikes, which are off-road bicycles with large tires that allow for riding on soft, unstable surfaces, like snow.

But this isn't just any group of fat tire cyclists. This is a sisterhood.

The oldest is 63. The youngest just aged in - she turned 50 this year. They help each other through sickness and injury and recently, through the death of a husband.

Through it all, they remain upbeat. They say that on the trails, they hoot and holler and become kids again.

Photojournalist Carly Danek takes us for a spin with the group, in 360 degrees.
