Green Line train hits, kills woman in St. Paul

A woman was in a pedestrian crosswalk when she was struck by a westbound train around 3 p.m. Friday

ST PAUL, Minn. — A woman died after she was struck by a light rail train Friday afternoon as she crossed University Avenue in St. Paul.

The woman was in a pedestrian crosswalk, crossing north on University Ave. around 3 p.m., when she was hit by a westbound Green Line train.

Metro Transit officials say it appears all warning bells and lights were operational.

The name of the woman has not been released.

The "train was down for about an hour," according to Metro Transit.
