COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. — Police confirm two people were injured, one of them a child, when a child care bus collided with another vehicle Wednesday morning in Cottage Grove.

The crash occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. just south of Crestview Elementary school. Cottage Grove Police say the Tutor Time childcare bus, carrying seven young students and a driver, rolled on its side after impact and came to rest near the intersection of 80th Street and Hinton Avenue in Cottage Grove.

At this point it is unclear whether either driver will be cited in the incident.

Police say the driver and one child were transported to Regions Hospital with what police call minor injuries. A statement released by Tutor Time says the bus driver immediately evacuated the children from the bus with help from Crestview elementary staff. The remaining students were checked out on the scene and transported to their respective elementary schools.

"Nothing is more important to us than our children’s safety," said Tutor Time spokesperson Lydia Cisaruk. "We’d like to thank the responders as well as the staff at both Crestview Elementary and Newport Elementary for their assistance."

Cottage Grove Police will continue to investigate the crash to determine whether charges will be filed against either driver.

KARE 11 has a crew on the scene and will have details as they become available. .
