If there was any doubt that Joe Mauer is St. Paul royalty, this should clear things up in a hurry.

The recently retired Twins great was just announced as Grand Marshal of the 2019 St. Paul Winter Carnival King Boreas Grand Day Parade, which is set for Saturday, Jan. 26. Mauer taped an announcement that was Tweeted by Nemer Fieger.

Joe, his wife Maddie and twins Emily and Maren will ride in a hot air balloon basket (which is Winter Carnival parade tradition) and wave to fans along the parade route.

The Grand Day Parade starts at 2 p.m. near Smith Avenue off West Seventh Street downtown, and make its way to Kellogg Mall Park, the new temporary site of Winter Carnival festivities.

Mauer grew up in St. Paul and made his mark playing baseball, football and basketball at Cretin-Derham Hall High School.
