Ditch digital devices to create stronger connections with family and nature

Families are urged to plug into the great outdoors to help improve relationships.

PLYMOUTH, Minnesota — Experiencing electronic overload? Experts say try unplugging from your digital devices and connecting with your family.

Health experts agree getting outside can help with stress levels and pain management. Fresh air can also enhance creativity and boost the immune system.

According to the EPA, the average American spends 93 percent of their lifetime indoors. So, what are they doing? They’re playing video games, talking or texting on their cell phones or logged onto their computers.

Research reveals adults spend an average of 11 hours a day on screens, while kids get an average of seven hours of screen time per day.

Alissa Daire Nelson, a transitional success coach and owner of Daire Success Coaching, says getting outside keeps families active and looking to connect with one another.
