Non-profit food hub helps schools make healthier lunches

One of the main focuses of Good Acre's culinary training program is to help area public schools create sustainable Farm to School programs.

The Good Acre is a non-profit food hub located in Falcon Heights. They offer cooking classes, a farm share program, commercial kitchen rental, grower support services, warehousing, a wholesale program, and culinary training in their state-of-the-art commercial kitchen.

One of the main focuses of their culinary training program is to help area public schools create sustainable Farm to School programs. Nutrition Services staff come to The Good Acre to learn scratch cooking techniques, knife skills, recipe development, and more.

The more a schools Nutrition Service staff is prepared to turn local whole unprocessed produce into delicious menu items for the lunch line, the more successful a schools Farm to School program will be which is a win for eaters, farmers, and the local food economy alike.
