Fire at business causes extensive damage in Blaine

Dispatch says the fire broke out just before 3 a.m.

BLAINE, Minn. — Crews are still on the scene putting out hot spots and doing extensive cleanup  after an early morning fire broke out at Murphy Brothers Remodeling on 93rd Lane NE in Blaine.

According to SBM Fire Chief Charlie Smith, the department was notified of the fire around 2:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived flames were jumping through the roof, according to Smith.

A portion of that roof collapsed just before first responders arrived. The fire was contained to the portion of the building where the roof collapsed, and was put down before it could spread to any neighboring buildings.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries in the battle.

Officials say the major portion of the fire was put out within minutes of crews arriving, but it will take a few more hours to completely clear the building
