MINNEAPOLIS — A Twin Cities mother who's battling cancer will receive a special honor from the Minnesota Twins this weekend.

The Twins named Monica Theis, of Robbinsdale, as their Honorary Bat Girl on Sunday.

Monica defeated Hodgkins Lymphoma was she was 19, and has since battled breast cancer three times.

She's currently undergoing treatment for stage four metastatic breast cancer.

The nod from the Twins is part of Major League Baseball's annual "Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer" initiative.

All honorary bat girls across the MLB are competing in a fundraising content that will benefit Susan G. Komen and Stand Up to Cancer.

 The Twins take on the Detroit Tigers Sunday at 1:10 p.m.
