Flooding prompts road, bridge, park closings

The Mississippi River is expected to reach major flood stage Monday.

New road closures are in effect Monday as water levels continue to rise on the Mississippi River in St. Paul.

The river is expected to reach major flood stage Monday.

St. Paul Public Works closed Childs Road, which follows along the river and becomes Warner Rd, at 10 p.m. on Sunday night.

The stretch essentially goes from the St. Paul RiverCentre, to the St. Paul Downtown Airport.

Warner and Shephard Roads are closed from Childs Road to Ontario Street. This stretch was closed Sunday night at 10 p.m. and will be closed until March 31.

2nd Street was closed on Sunday night at 10 p.m. from Kellogg Boulevard to Sibley Street. That closure will end on March 31.

Water Street and Lillydale Road from the St. Paul Yacht Club to Highway 13 have been closed since March 14. They will be closed until April 12.

Last week, St. Paul city leaders approved an emergency declaration, which provides potential funding for flooding preparations.
