What's that smell? The stink is back

If you've stepped outside in the past few days and crinkled your nose at a mysterious smell in the air, you're not alone. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's meteorologist Daniel Dix said the stink is riding the winds from afar. The smell is coming from the ammonia in the fertilizer that was put into the soil earlier this fall. Dix added that the cold snaps that happened in the past two Novembers are also to blame.

Two rounds of snow on the way

Today looks dry and cloudy during the midday, but we are expecting another fast moving area of snow to come through during the late afternoon and evening, moving into the metro around 5 p.m. We could see 1 to 3 inches of snow across southern Minnesota tonight including the metro, with a little more expected in the southern metro than northern metro. Temperatures will be much colder this weekend with highs in the 20s and 30s.
