Fire destroyed two businesses on St. Paul's Selby Avenue over the weekend.

Local St. Paul businesses destroyed by fire

An investigation is underway after a building fire in St. Paul Saturday night. According to the St. Paul Fire Department, the fire happened around 9:30 p.m. at Selby Avenue and North St. Albans Street in the Summit-University neighborhood. The building on Selby Avenue and St. Albans Street was home to two locally owned businesses and two upstairs apartments. Clean Cuts Barber Shop and Avenue Grocery are destroyed. The building will likely never be used again.

Bears beat Vikings 25-20, tighten grip on NFC North

Khalil Mack had a sack and fumble recovery, Eddie Jackson returned an interception for a touchdown and the Chicago Bears tightened their grip on the NFC North with a 25-20 victory over the second-place Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night. Mack and Jackson led a dominant effort by the defense. And Chicago (7-3) took a big step toward its first division championship since 2010.

2018 U.S. Rhodes scholars include MN, WI scholars

The Rhodes Trust on Sunday announced that Riley Tillitt of Eden Prairie is among 32 men and women chosen from among a group of 880 applicants for studies beginning next fall at Oxford University in England. Also, a 2018 graduate of Brown University from Milwaukee is a U.S. Rhodes scholar. Rhea Stark graduated from Brown with a perfect academic record. As an archaeologist and researcher, she aims to uncover buried histories by highlighting narratives of everyday people, especially women and people of color.
