If it moves water, there's a good chance it's going fast at your local hardware store. At Northern Tool in Minnetonka, sump pumps are nowhere to be found. Norther Tool and Equipment told us that they, like many other stores, are continually working to get in pumps and supplies, and the best thing to do is to call in and check back frequently for updates because many items are being sold as soon as they arrive. Keep in mind, hoses and other accessories, like fans, have also been selling fast. Another product leaving shelves quickly is road salt.
Hundreds of people at a trailer park in Jordan had to be evacuated Thursday evening because of flash flooding from nearby Sand Creek.47 residents from Valley Green Mobile Home Park were taken to shelter at Jordan High School, according to Jordan police. The American Red Cross is operating the shelter. The Jordan Police Department told KARE 11 that about 300 mobile homes were affected, which is roughly 1,000 people. According to police, people living in 145 of those homes decided to evacuate. 15 animals were also evacuated, authorities say. According to the National Weather Service, the flooding was caused by an ice jam on Sand Creek that redirected most of the water into Valley Green Park.
Mass shootings at two mosques full of worshippers attending Friday prayers killed 49 people on what the prime minister called "one of New Zealand's darkest days," as authorities charged one person, detained three others and defused explosive devices in what appeared to be a carefully planned racist attack. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the events in Christchurch represented "an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence" and acknowledged many of those affected may be migrants and refugees. In addition to the dead, she said more than 20 people were seriously wounded.
