GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — More winter weather and significant snow forecast for Friday evening

One storm down and another is on the way for many across Minnesota. Winter Storm Watches and Warnings are posted for central and northern parts of the state and into northwest Wisconsin. The Twin Cities are included on the southern edge of this watch, which is in effect from 6 p.m. Friday until 12 p.m. Saturday. Winter storm warnings are posted for St. Cloud, Brainerd, Fargo and Duluth. On the north shore there are blizzard warnings where up to 12"-18" of snow could fall along with high winds. The best chance of seeing heavy snowfall accumulations is across the northern half of Minnesota, but even a minor shift in the track could drastically change things for the Twin Cities. At least a few inches of wet snow looks likely at this point in the metro.

The past few years have been good for retail. Carlson School of Management professor George John says this year is the third year in a row that retail sales have gone up between 3 and 5%. According to John, sales have been rebounding post-recession, but some retailers are taking advantage of that better than others. So why are Target and Best Buy doing well? A number of factors are at play. Most traditional retailers have found success in reinventing themselves to be more 'fresh and appealing' to shoppers, like Target's partnerships with designer, or Best Buy offering in-store tech support.
