GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Areas north of metro to receive the most snow

The timing of the snow's arrival has been delayed somewhat. In the metro we can expect light snow by about 8-9 a.m. into the early afternoon. Areas like St. Cloud will see snow start by 7-8 a.m. Accumulations end up from a dusting in the south metro up to 1 inch in some northern suburbs and further north. Places like Princeton, Cambridge, up to Pine City into northwest WI could see 1"-2" in a few isolated spots. In general, when it comes to the Twin Cities, expect slightly more for northern suburbs and slightly less for southern suburbs. If we do officially receive an inch at MSP International, that would be the first of the season, which on average occurs on Nov. 19.

Richfield Schools leaders respond to lunch incident: 'What happened is Inappropriate'

On Monday during a couple of lunch periods at Richfield High School, a policy was enforced in a very wrong way. As many as 40 students in the lunch line had their hot lunches taken off of their trays, thrown in the trash and replaced with a cold lunch when a lunchroom staff member at the register saw that they had outstanding lunch debts of more than $15. What happened on Monday, district leaders admit, was a total failure. They have apologized to the students and will continue to make sure this never happens again. But the reality of lunch debt for this district, and others, is very real. Richfield likely will foot a $20,000 unpaid lunch bill at the end of this school year – and that is with nearly 65% of the students in the district being on free lunch.

World’s most expensive drug appears to be working for Minn. Toddler

Maddy Smith is busy doing the things two-year-olds do, some of which she couldn’t do just two months ago. Her mom calls her a wild child now, a term she would not have used to describe Maddy last summer. Back then, Maddy was unable to walk or talk. And she was rapidly approaching her second birthday, the deadline to receive a groundbreaking new gene therapy drug that promises a potential cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) the rare and sometimes fatal genetic disorder Maddy was born with. The gene therapy is called Zolgensma. It has been controversial since its fast track FDA approval this spring. A big source of the controversy is the $2 million dollar price tag.
