Award-winning Minnesota author Allen Eskens is on a tour to promote his new book, "Nothing More Dangerous".

The historical crime novel follows the journey of a young man and his discovery of hidden prejudices.

This is Eskens' sixth book, and one that's very special to him, because he started to write it more than 20 years ago.

He spoke with Ellery McCardle about the book, and his value in writing with emotion.

"If I write about characters and relationships it allows readers to engage in the story and feel emotion and that's really more important to me than anything else."

The book is available now in stores and online, and Eskens encourages readers to buy it at their local book store. He has several events coming up.

You can watch our full interview with Eskens on our Sunrisers Book Club page on Facebook. There, you can post and comment about what you're reading. And every month, we choose a new local author to feature. We read one of their books and discuss it with them on Facebook live.
