Sven Explores: Climate change in the Arctic

You may be wondering where Sven’s been the last couple days-he’s been in his ancestral homeland of Norway!

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — You may be wondering where Sven’s been the last couple days. He’s been in his ancestral homeland of Norway, and he’s just arrived to the Arctic on the island of Svalbard way up at 78 degrees latitude, just a few hundred miles from the North Pole!

He was there last summer reporting on the impacts of climate change and how quickly the region is changing. This time he is following the story of two women who are spending a long arctic winter in a remote cabin, connecting via satellite with classrooms around the world on the impacts of climate change, ocean plastic, and more with monthly themes.

He will bring us that story when he returns, but if you are a teacher and want to get involved, click here to read about Hearts in the Ice
