'Uber for lawns' helps you hire a contractor with the click of a button

If you hate mowing your lawn, GreenPal will find someone to do it for you.

MINNEAPOLIS — Looking for someone to mow your lawn? There's an app for that.

GreenPal is new to Minneapolis and takes the hassle out of calling around and pricing out lawn care from different companies.

Think of it as Uber for your lawn. You hop on the app, tell them what you need and where you are, and GreenPal does the rest.

"With our platform, it literally alerts all the vendors in the area that hey, there's a new lawn up for bid," says GreenPal co-founder Gene Caballero.

Most contractors are owners and operators, so they're answering the phone and mowing lawns, which can lead to a lot of missed opportunities.

Tony Zerwas is the owner and operator of Blue Line Property Care. He says the app is great because he can bid on a new property while he's working on another.

"It's nice to be on my phone, look at the property on my phone, and be able to submit a bid," he says.

The app weeds out the most expensive bids and finds the best price in the area. The lawn care professionals on the site are all accredited, and have to pass a screening process.

Ultimately, it's up to the home-owner to decide who they want to work with based on vendor ratings, reviews, and price.

Price is based on how tall your grass is and how often you want your lawn mowed.

But GreenPal doesn't plan to stop with grass. They said later this year they're going to offer snow removal.
