WACONIA, Minn. — Erin Jensen is passionate about food.
"Putting real food into your body makes you feel better, it makes you happier, it makes you sleep better – and then that spills over into other parts of your life," she says.
In 2015 Erin launched The Wooden Skillet - a food blog geared towards recipes with simple, real ingredients. "You should be able to look at the recipe and recognize all the ingredients. There’s nothing weird in them, nothing artificial, just real food," she says.
The Wooden Skillet focuses on Whole 30, Paleo, gluten-free, dairy-free and plant-based recipes.
When she launched the blog she was also a practicing attorney, but recently left that job to go all-in on The Wooden Skillet.
"This is like the dream. Doing something that you love and I don’t have the Sunday 'scaries' or anything and I wake up and I’m literally excited to go to work," says Erin.
Erin says she has hundreds of recipes on her website and has also found a passion for food photography - and hopes to develop a course to teach food photography to others.
What she says she's learned about stepping into a passion project? Take that first step.
"If you have something you want to do, just start it. It doesn’t mean you’re going to take it all the way to fruition immediately, but if I hadn’t started this I’d still be sitting in my office at my law firm happy enough, but not this happy," she says.
