GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — If you're fascinated with true crime, you'll feel right at home while listening to the Wine and Crime podcast.
"It is a bizarre blend of true crime and comedy. We like to take stories that maybe have an element of the absurd and tell them in a way that we feel like your friends talk about true crime," says Amanda Jacobson, one of the three co-hosts on the podcast.
Amanda, along with her friends Kenyon and Lucy, launched the podcast back in 2017. The three have been "inseparable, best friends" since they were in elementary and middle school.
Amanda is the only one still living in the Twin Cities. Kenyon is currently living in South Africa and Lucy is in Des Moines, Iowa.
The premise of the podcast is pretty simple. Drink wine and chat true crime.
"We all have degrees that we weren’t really using the way that we wanted to and we banded together and had an idea and we went for it," Amanda says.
Amanda says all three of them have now quit their jobs and are doing the podcast full-time. In addition to hitting over 100,000 downloads on their weekly episodes, they are also doing live shows around the country on tour.
"If we can do it, anybody can do it," Amanda says. "If you have a dream or an idea I say – don’t do too much research, just dive in and do it. That’s what we did and see where it can go."
