New Brighton Ice Castles opening early

The winter wonderland will open to the public on Dec. 31, its earliest opening in a decade.

NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. — The real-life winter wonderland attraction Ice Castles returns to the Twin Cities and will be open to the public on Dec. 31.

This is the earliest the New Brighton Ice Castles, located at Long Lake Regional Park, have opened in nearly a decade when they debuted for the first season in Minnesota in 2012.

The ice artisans behind the attraction have been working "around the clock" to get the experience ready, which includes multiple icy tunnels, fountains and towers with LED lights, according to a press release.

“This is only the second time we’ve been able to open before New Year’s Day,” said Ice Castles CEO Kyle Standifird in a statement. “Mother Nature has been good to us this season, and we’re excited to welcome guests to Ice Castles over the holiday weekend.”

Ice Castles will be open on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Tickets for the attraction are on sale and available on the Ice Castles website.
