SHAKOPEE, Minn. — For many women facing breast cancer, the diagnosis is a blow not just to their health but to their finances as well.
It's estimated that two-thirds of the total costs of breast cancer treatment are non-medical. And cancer patients are more than 2.5 times more likely to go bankrupt than people without cancer.
Hope Chest for Breast Cancer fills an urgent, unmet need: Alleviating some of the financial burdens associated with breast cancer treatment.
Women undergoing treatment for breast cancer have to miss an average of 44.5 days of work. In fact, 78 percent of the patients Hope Chest serves are unemployed or on unpaid leave due to their illness.
Fillies Race for Hope is the signature fundraiser for the Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation. The event will take place on June 2, 2019, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Canterbury Park. It’s a fun-filled day that brings the community together to support a great cause. Click here for additional details.
