How to avoid Final Four ticket scams

Always know whom you are buying Final Four tickets from, it’s always best to buy directly from the NCAA, which also offers ways for fans to sell tickets.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — The Twin Cities is home to the NCAA Final Four this spring, and just like any big event where tickets are hard to come by, there are scammers ready and waiting to take your hard-earned money.

Bess Ellenson Director of Communications for the Better Business Bureau of North Dakota and Minnesota joined us on KARE News@4 with some things to to be aware of when purchasing tickets.

Always know whom you are buying Final Four tickets from, it’s always best to buy directly from the NCAA, which also offers ways for fans to sell tickets. Be cautious of buying tickets from emails or online ads; this is a common way scammers reach victims. Also, use a credit card when purchasing tickets so you can dispute the charges if it ends up that you were scammed. Wire transfers, debit cards, and cash are not traceable and impossible to dispute.
