Local program helps teens with developmental disabilities socialize

Teenagers with developmental disabilities have a great option for socializing with peers.

Reach for Resources offers a program called Teen Explorers to individuals, aged 13-21.

Jesse Hartrick, who facilitates the Teen Explorers program, spoke about its important benefits. She explained that Teen Explorers allows participants a safe and fun environment for practicing independent living skills while getting to know new friends and trying new activities.

The activities take place in a variety of West Metro and downtown locations. Some examples of the plans for this next session include going snow tubing, having a cooking night, visiting both Sky Zone and Crayola Experience, and more.

The program is held quarterly for eight weeks on Tuesday evenings. Participants can register now at www.reachforresources.org for the next session, which will begin Jan. 8.
