GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The generosity shown by Minnesotans every year is amazing, as they dig deep and donate both toys and financial gifts to help make the holidays better for children in need.

And this year, the need remains great. Even though KARE 11's collection campaign 'officially' ended Saturday, the Marines tell us they still need toys for children ages 8-15.

Here is how you, our viewers, can get involved:

Toys are still being collected at the Toys for Tots Warehouse located at 5017 Boone Ave North in New Hope now through December 20th.

There is still a need for toys for boys and girls age 8-15. Here is a list of ideas for that age group:

  • Sporting equipment/bags/balls
  • Books
  • Backpacks
  • Cosmetics
  • Purses
  • Watch/wallet gift sets
  • Bath gift sets
  • Board games
  • Radio control cars/trucks
  • Hand-held electronics
  • Skateboards/helmets
  • Curling irons
  • Hair straighteners
  • Hair dryers

Financial donations are also accepted. Viewers can go to and click on the Toys for Tots FAQ’s page to find a link to donate online.
