The boy was later found safe.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office said the father does not have custodial rights for the child.

The boy's mother told police she was assaulted Thursday in a vehicle on Interstate 35 and again at a Wyoming, Minnesota gas station.

The Wyoming police chief tells KARE 11 the 6-month-old was later found safe at a home in White Bear Lake, where the suspect dropped off the child with a friend.

The chief says both the baby and mother are safe and they have been "medically evaluated."

"The collaboration and assistance from all those law enforcement agencies really brought this to a fast and quick resolve, and a really positive one, because we got the six-month-old back uninjured and unharmed," said Wyoming Police Chief Paul Hoppe.
