INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. — Police are investigating a report of a possible child luring in Inver Grove Heights on Monday.

According to a press release, two girls, ages 10 and 12, said they were walking in their neighborhood in the area of 65th Street and Bonner Court when a van drove past, made a U-turn and pulled up to them.

The girls told police that the driver asked if they knew who "G" was, and then if they'd like to help find "G." They said no to both. The girls said the man then told them, "Get in the van."

At that time the girls' stepfather opened the door to their house, and the van headed west on 65th Street.

The van is described as a brown, late 1990s conversion van with black stripes and green curtains. The driver is described as a heavyset Hispanic man in his mid 40s wearing a blue plaid shirt.

Police say parents should talk to their kids about safely precautions like:

  • Immediately returning to school and telling a staff member if ever approached by a stranger near school
