Woman rescued from flipped car in Minnehaha Creek

Authorities were able to gain access into the car through the rear window, cut the seat belt and get the woman out of the car.

EDINA, Minn. — The Minneapolis Fire Department rescued a woman who was stuck inside a car after it rolled into Minnehaha Creek Sunday evening.

The incident took place near 54th Street West and Xerxes Avenue South. 

The woman was alert but struggling to get out of the flipped vehicle. She was almost submerged but was able to hold hear head above the water, according to officials.

Authorities were able to gain access into the car through the rear window, cut the seat belt and get the woman out of the car.

There are no further details as to how exactly the car went into the creek.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment.
