Worker rescued from construction trench

The Minneapolis Fire Department's Technical Rescue Team was called in shortly before noon to rescue the worker, who had fallen into a 15 foot trench and become trapped.

MINNEAPOLIS — A construction worker is recovering after being trapped in a trench on a work site in downtown Minneapolis Friday. 

The Minneapolis Fire Department posted on Twitter feed that the department's Technical Rescue Team was called to the 100 block of 2nd Avenue North shortly before noon to rescue the worker, who had fallen into a 15 foot trench and become trapped.

At this time there are no details as to what exactly happened, but rescuers were able to free him after about 30 minutes, lower a basket and lift him out for waiting paramedics. 

Word from the scene is that the worker suffered multiple fractures to his legs, but is expected to recover.
