WASHINGTON, D.C. - The 2017 WNBA Champion Minnesota Lynx never got an invite to The White House following their title win nearly a year ago.

Been there and done that, right?

The four-time champion Lynx have already visited three previous times. This time around the players, coaches and staff were in our nation's capital for something different.

On Wednesday, the team attended a local school where they gave away Jordan tennis shoes and Nike socks to kids at Payne Elementary School. The effort was in partnership with Samaritan’s Feet. Later, students had the opportunity to play basketball with stars such as Maya Moore and Sylvia Fowles.

"My heart was full today celebrating my teammates' success! Thanks to everyone who came together and made that possible.... my teammates are empowering women and a lot of the things they do go unnoticed but today it was all about being humble servants!" Lynetta Kizer wrote on Twitter.

The team was also greeted by Minnesota Senators Amy Klobuchar, Tina Smith and others.

"The WNBA champions @minnesotalynx may not have been invited to the White House but they showed what true champions are by serving DC kids today," Sen. Klobuchar posted along with a Twitter video.

The Lynx will play the Washington Mystics on Thursday.
