The way we shop continues to change.
Lots of people already use self-checkout. Now, there's "mobile checkout."
Macy's announced this week that it'll be available in all stores by the end of year.
So, how exactly does it work?
Scan, pay, go. That's how Macy's describes it.
First, you need to download the store's app. Then scan the item you want to buy with your phone, and pay using your pre-registered credit card. But you can't "go" just yet.
You actually have to go to a special mobile checkout counter for an associate to verify the purchase, remove security tags and bag the item.
So while you're not ditching a store clerk just yet, Macy's does believe it will save shoppers time standing in line.
To make things even quicker, Macy's says the mobile checkout counters will be set up close to store exits.
