WAYZATA, Minn. - A new breakfast sandwich from McDonald's is currently being tested -- and Minnesotans get to be the guinea pigs.
The new sandwich features a French toast "bun," topped with an egg, American cheese, sausage and Applewood smoked bacon, then brushed with syrup.
The concoction is being called the McGriddles French Toast and it's now available at more than 200 locations in Minnesota.
Officials say the new sandwich is available in the Twin Cities, Rochester and Duluth.
Mike Lingo, of the McDonald's culinary team, said they're trying to use local ingredients as well. The brioche used for the French toast is made here in Monticello.
The new sandwich is available now and will be tested in Minnesota for the next eight weeks. If all goes well, customers nationwide will be able to get the sandwich by mid-2019.
