Even on a rainy-gloomy day, Claude and Cornell are in good spirits.
They're always happy to avoid driving in the area.
"It's cheap," said Claude.
Avoiding the traffic, and of course, those parking meters.
"Paying for gas, now you're paying for parking. Which is another bill on top of another bill," said Claude.
They're also avoiding paying more at downtown core meters these days.
Minneapolis City Parking System Manager Tim Drew says the big change is in Downtown Core Meters, going from $2 to $3 an hour. He says those rates haven't changed in 20 years.
Also, keep an eye on time limits. Many spots have changed to 2-hour time limits.
"We want to have the highest turnaround parking," said Drew.
He hopes this will free up more spots and push people to parking ramps.
"Might encourage people to take transit. Ride their bikes, walk to work, and do other things besides drive your vehicle," said Drew.
