A Salt Lake City businessman was shocked to see himself in a full page newspaper ad “looking for a wife.” To Baron Brooks’ surprise, his father, 78-year-old Arthur Brooks, purchased the $900 ad in the Coeur d’Alene Press.

“I can’t even describe to you how embarrassing and ridiculous this is,” the 48-year-old bachelor told The Spokesman-Review.

The ad, which ran June 18, lists Brooks as a 49-year-old who has never been married, looking for a wife able to have children “as soon as possible” and looks just like the picture listed except now has grey hair.

The ad says Brooks is looking for an attractive woman who is “height and weight proportional” and is politically conservative.

“I would expect that if we have children, you would be a stay at home mom,” the ad reads.

It also has height requirements – “if you are 5’8” & like to wear high heels, it may not work.”

Brooks said his father, who is ill, is desperate for grandchildren to carry on the family name.

While Brooks is mortified his father took out the ad, he said he plans to talk to him Sunday. His father is hoping to have a winning prospect for his son at that time.

“It’s worth a shot,” Brooks said. “Can’t hurt.”
