Anoka County Sheriff's dispatchers received a call shortly before 7 p.m. reporting that a man was hit by a vehicle in the intersection of 40th Avenue and University Avenue after trying to cross the street. The victim was subsequently identified as 48-year-old Erik Ray Johnstone of Fridley.
Johnstone was rushed to North Memorial Hospital for treatment. On Friday police shared the news that he passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20.
