ELK RIVER, Minn. — The Elk River Police Department is warning residents about a group of people stealing purses from vehicles.
Officials say the suspects had been stealing from other areas throughout the metro, and are now receiving reports they are in Elk River. According to police, two incidents have occurred in Elk River and are believed to be tied to a string of thefts throughout the metro.
Officials say the suspects appear to be watching for people leaving their vehicles, especially if it's a female leaving without a purse, and then checking the unoccupied vehicle for a purse.
Police say the suspects are targeting parks, business complexes, gyms, churches and shopping centers.
