Weighty issues follow Trump to Minnesota

As President Trump leaves Washington D.C. he does not leave the controversies that are swirling around him.

MINNEAPOLIS — Political analysts warn the storm of controversy swirling around President Trump in Washington will follow him to Minnesota.

Professor Larry Jacobs with the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs talked with KARE 11’s Karla Hult the day before the Presidential visit. Jacobs says he’s keeping tabs on every development related to the Presidential visit.

“Donald Trump has become the epicenter of a historic battle that is trying to unseat him from office and impeach him. And this has taken on many dimensions. Part of it are concerns that he’s been trying to use foreign investigations to undermine leading Democratic candidates. There’s also been a bipartisan outpouring of protests over his handling of American troops in Syria which had provided a protection for our allies, the Kurds, in northern Syria. As a result, Turkey – as we speak – is invading Syria and may well be killing what had been long-time American allies,” Jacobs said.

Jacobs continued: “So Donald Trump is coming to Minnesota in a moment of extraordinary national crisis and debate, and I think he’s coming to Minnesota in large part to try and change the conversation.”
