SHAKOPEE, Minn. - The Valleyfair amusement park was shut down early Saturday night after a large number of fights broke out.
Shakopee Police say no injuries were reported and three people were cited for minor offenses.
According to the Shakopee Police Facebook page, "the number of individuals running throughout the park increased substantially and was difficult to control. Due to the large number of altercations, it was decided to clear the park of all guests."
According to Valleyfair's Twitter account "there were incidents on September 22 at Valleyfair that required assistance on property from Shakopee police officers and were quickly addressed. The safety of our guests is our top priority."
There were reported comments about a knife being used in a fight, but Shakopee Police say no evidence was found to confirm a weapon was used in the altercation.
Saturday night was the first night of the annual ValleyScare, Halloween-themed attractions at the amusement park, with haunted mazes, scare zones and monsters roaming the park.
