Police: Body found in Mississippi River identified as missing Eau Claire woman

The Pierce County Sheriff's office responded to the scene around noon and recovered an adult female body.

The body of Missing Eau Claire woman Muzeyyan Ayan was found in the Mississippi River.

TRENTON, Wis. — The body found in the Mississippi River Tuesday has been positively identified as a woman listed as missing from the city of Eau Claire. 

Eau Claire police sent out a notification Friday morning positively identifying the person found in the water not far from Hager City, Wis. as 47-year-old Muzeyyan Ayan. Authorities say there is no indications of foul play.

Ayan was originally from Turkey but moved to Eau Claire five years ago to live with her daughters, according to police. Authorities said on a Facebook post that her brother came to the country late February to help her move back to Turkey but once at the airport she refused to board. Ayan was seen on surveillance footage on February 26  at 8:40 p.m. taking the southbound light rail train from the airport towards Mall of America. 

A fisherman notified authorities Tuesday about a floating body in the Mississippi River in Trenton, Wis. The fisherman called the police at about 12:20 p.m. according to a press release. 

Officials say the angler told them the body was floating near mile marker 795 in Trenton Township.
