ST PAUL, Minn. — An east St. Paul neighborhood is resting easier after an armed stand-off that stretched for several hours ended quietly Wednesday morning.

Police said the incident began as a pursuit of a stolen vehicle around 9:30 on Tuesday night. The driver of the vehicle took off and crashed into a home, according to officials.

When officers approached the driver they say he refused to get out of the car and showed them a gun.

The stand-off lasted for several hours, and ended in the arrest of a 48-year-old Maplewood man. He was booked into the Ramsey County jail on probable cause criminal damage to property, fleeing police, auto theft and possession of a firearm by an ineligible person.

The stolen car involved in the incident was towed from the scene around 5 a.m.
