The Twin Cities mourn legendary musician's Willie Murphy's death

The Star Tribune reported Murphy died Sunday at 75 years of age after dealing with various health issues.

MINNEAPOLIS — Musicians and politicians alike are mourning the death of the musical Minnesota legend Willie Murphy.

The Star Tribune reported Murphy died Sunday at 75 years of age after dealing with various health issues.

"Willie was amazing," Former St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman said in a Facebook post. "Watching him play was a gift."

Iron Range native folk musician Paul Metsa said, "Willie the man was complex, inquisitive, well read, a huge fan of foreign films, a contrarian, obstinate and a total sweetheart."

Twin Cities Soul and R&B artist Mick Sterling said, "Thank you for blessing us with your unmistakable soul."

People were also taking their remembrance of Murphy's life to Twitter.
