Twins honor Prince with special night at Target Field

Friday's game will feature giveaways and a special moment of silence.
Happy Bday to Minnesota's Own... Prince.

MINNEAPOLIS -- There could be some rain Friday night when the Twins take the field...and if it's somehow purple, that might just be the perfect weather.

The team is celebrating "Prince Night" at Target Field to honor the icon. Thursday would have been his 60th birthday.

The Twins will include multiple game day elements as they host the Los Angeles Angels with first pitch at 7:10 p.m.

The first 10,000 fans to Target Field will receive a limited-edition inflatable Prince guitar.

Twins players and staff will also wear special Prince-themed t-shirts during batting practice. The shirts will later be auctioned off online to benefit Achieve Minneapolis for music grants in Minneapolis Public Schools.

Prince's Model C guitar will be on display as well in the Twins clubhouse.

Omarr Baker, Prince’s younger brother, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch and Prince collaborator, JD Steele, of “The Steeles”, and Olivia Gordon, from Rochester, MN, will perform the National Anthem.

After the seventh inning stretch, all fans will be asked to remain standing. Fans in possession of the inflatable Prince guitar will illuminate their guitars for a special moment in remembrance of Prince.

Finally, there will be Prince-themed fireworks after the game.
