U of M students injured in attempted robbery

The attack happened around 1 a.m. on the East Bank Light Rail platform. Officers were called after a report by two male U of M students of an attempted robbery.

MINNEAPOLIS — University of Minnesota (U of M) and Metro Transit Police are looking for suspects after an attempted robbery and assault left two students injured early Wednesday.

The attack happened around 1 a.m. on the East Bank Light Rail platform. Officers were called after a report by two male U of M students of an attempted robbery. The victims told police they were approached by two men who began to verbally harass them and demanded their wallets. 

When the students refused the suspects physically assaulted them, then fled the platform. 

Both students were left with cuts and bruises on their faces. They were transported to the hospital for treatment and observation.
